For accurate positioning of hammers, they are bored individually using a laser to achieve the correct rake angles and hammer heights.

The ‘stepped’ or curved strike line is set precisely to reflect the curve of the capo d’ astro bar in the piano. The strike lines must be precise in order to achieve the best sound from the piano.
